Ich kenne Arun aus meiner Zeit in Auroville, wo wir ein paar Monate zusammen gearbeitet haben und ich freue mich, dass ich das folgende Interview mit ihm führen konnte:  Nach seiner eigenen Aussage, hat Arun eine sehr glückliche Kindheit in Auroville verbracht und möchte mit seinem neu gegründeten E-Commerce Geschäft die lokalen Handwerker aus der ländlichen Region unterstützen.

Arun ist überzeugt, dass vor allem auch die Frauen hervorragende Fähigkeiten haben und er sagt: „Unser Gesellschaft hat sich nicht groß verändert, daher versuchen wir die Stellung der Frauen zu stärken, wir wollen ihnen ermöglichen, ihr eigener Boss zu sein und wir denken, dass Frauen den Männern in vielem überlegen sind, sowohl geistig als auch körperlich. Unser E-Commerce Geschäft Aurodeniz zeigt was Frauen können. Gleichzeitig geben wir talentierten freischaffenden Kunsthandwerkern eine Plattform ihre Produkte anzubieten. Wir kümmern uns um ihre Belange und handeln nach dem Motto: Wachstum durch Einheit ist der Weg zum Erfolg.“

Interview mit Arun

Frage: Wann wurde Aurodeniz gegründet? Arun: Der Online Shop wurde bereits am 1. Juni 2020 gegründet, es dauerte allerdings noch weitere 6 Monate um alles zu organisieren und fertigzustellen. Besonders viel Zeit und Arbeit musste ich in die Erstellung der Website investieren. Am 1. Februar 2021 war es dann soweit: Die Website ging online.

Frage: Wie kam es zu dem Name Aurodeniz? Arun: Auro ist die Abkürzung von Auroville, der Stadt wo ich lebe. Der Name Auroville stammt von dem bekannten indischen Philosophen und Weisheitslehrer Sri Aurobindo. Auro heißt auch Morgendämmerung. Deniz heißt Ozean auf Türkisch. Und beides zusammen ergab den Namen unserer Firma: Aurodeniz. Wie du weißt beinhaltet der Ozean viele Lebewesen. Wir haben den Namen gewählt als Inspiration. Unser Geschäft soll genauso großartig und lebendig werden wie der Ozean mit einer Vielzahl von natürlichen in Handarbeit gefertigten Produkten.

Frage: Du sagtest, dass du mit deinem Shop die lokalen Handwerker unterstützt. Wie viele Handwerker arbeiten für dich? Kennst du sie alle persönlich?

Arun: Ja, letztes Jahr als Corona begann hatte ich die Idee. Die Handwerker litten sehr unter der Situation. Es gab auf einmal keine Touristen mehr und niemand, der ihre Produkte kaufte. Die wirtschaftliche Lage verschlechterte sich und viele hatten nicht mehr genug Geld, um ihre Familien zu ernähren und das Schulgeld für ihre Kinder zu bezahlen. Ich kümmere mich um die Plattform, sodass sie sich auf die Herstellung ihrer Produkte konzentrieren können. Momentan arbeite ich mit zehn Handwerkern zusammen, in der Zukunft sollen es noch mehr werden. Und ja ich kenne alle persönlich, wir sind gute Freunde geworden.

Frage: Kannst du noch ein bisschen mehr über die Menschen erzählen, die deine Produkte herstellen? Wie sieht ihr Leben aus? Arun: Ja das ist zum Beispiel Kuruvama, eine Kunsthandwerkerin aus dem Dorf Alankuppam. Ich erzähle dir etwas über sie, das wird dir einen Eindruck geben:

Kuruvama ist eine starke Frau und eine ausgezeichnete Kunsthandwerkerin. Sie stellt seit über 8 Jahren Kunsthandwerk aus Papier her. Sie hat kurz nach ihrer Heirat ihren Ehemann verloren. Das war vor 28 Jahren, seither lebt sie allein und arbeitet jeden Tag hart für ihren Lebensunterhalt. Als wir sie kennenlernten, haben wir uns vorgenommen sie zu unterstützen, vor allem weil sie außergewöhnliche Fähigkeiten besitzt. Sie arbeitet mit einer Gruppe von Frauen zusammen, die alle Kunsthandwerk aus Papier herstellen. Wir kaufen ihre Produkte und bieten sie online an.

Frage: Kannst du auch noch etwas zu Auroville sagen? Arun: Auroville ist eine international Stadt in Südindien und wurde von Mirra Alfassa gegründet, die auch die Mutter genannt wird. Ihre Vision war es, eine Stadt zu bauen frei von politischen und religiösen Einschränkungen, eine Stadt, die die Einheit der Menschheit symbolisieren und Inspiration für die Welt sein sollte. Ich bin sehr froh und stolz, dass ich in Auroville geboren wurde und möchte auch meinen Beitrag leisten, die Ziele von Auroville zu verwirklichen.

Frage: Ich habe auf der Homepage gesehen, dass ihr auch sehr schöne Waren aus Ton anbietet, z.B. die Wasserflaschen aus Ton. Habt ihr schon Erfahrung beim Versand. Wie wird sichergestellt, dass die Ware nicht zerbricht? Arun: Bisher haben wir nur nach Bangalore geliefert und nur zwei Stück. Sie kamen heil an. Wir nehmen Stroh und Papier und wickeln die Ware mehrmals ein. Das sollte funktionieren. Aber eine 100% Sicherheit gibt es bei Ton nicht. Wir tun aber unser Bestes.

Frage: Liefert ihr auch ins Ausland? Könnte man von Deutschland aus online bei euch bestellen? Wie hoch wäre der Mindestbestellwert? Arun: Ja du kannst online bestellen. Wir können nach Deutschland liefern. Der Mindestbestellwert ist auf unserer Website hinterlegt, du kannst dort wie angegeben bestellen. Man kann uns auch jederzeit direkt per Whats App oder Mail kontaktieren. Wir stehen für Fragen und Beratung gerne zur Verfügung. Interview with Arun a young Indian, who decided to support the bio region of Auroville

Arun: I, Arun, a  very lucky child who was born in Auroville, is the founder of this idea that has become practical now . Our aim is to support the artisan of Auroville Bio-Region, especially women artisan, who have amazing skills. Our society has not changed much, so we are trying to bring up women empowerment, where each and every women can be her own boss. According to us, Women are superior to men, no man can match the mental  and physical power of a women. It’s the truth. Aurodeniz will take the steps to exhibit the skills and the products our women. On the other hand, independent artists, who have amazing skills, but don’t know where to showcase or prove it, we will lift them up. We care for all artisans. Growth through Unity, is the shortcut to success

Question: When did you open the shop? Arun: I opened this E-commerce store on the 1st of June-2020. The ideas were ready at this date, but the survey of the villagers, Registration of the company in Auroville and finalizing the website, all of this took 6 months more. I launched this Website only on the 1st of February-2021 after a lot of work.

Question: Where does the name Aurodeniz come from? Arun: Auro is the extraction from the name Auroville. The name Auroville was formed from the name of the great person. Sri Aurodindo . Auro means Dawn. Deniz means Ocean in Turkish. Putting this together we have named our Unit Aurodeniz. Aurodeniz- As you know the ocean is big and marvelous with a lot of sea creatures, our unit Aurodeniz will also have a vast range of handmade, natural, handmade products.

Question: You said that you support the artisan of Auroville Bio-Region. How many artisans are working for you? Do you know them all personally?

Arun: It was my own decision to support the Artisan of Auroville Bioregion. Last year during covid, they suffered a lot since they didn’t have an online market nor a website nor the skills to bring them up in this internet world. Since there were no tourists to buy their products, they suffered a lot economically, especially their children for food and money to pay their school fee. I have extended my hand to support them using this online platform, where I take all the responsibility and they only have to focus on producing new products. There are about 10 artists that I am working with currently and waiting to work with more. I have very good relationships with all of them, Yes! I became good friends with them.

Question: It would be interesting to know more about the people producing the articles in your shop, can you talk about them or for example describe the background of one of them?

Arun: One of the artists called Kuruvama, from the Alankuppam Village, very close to Auroville. I talk about her, this will give you a good background:

This iron woman is called Kuruvama. She is an excellent artist who has been making paper products for the past 8 years. She lost her husband within months after her marriage. Since then she is living alone, it’s already 28 years that she is independent and working hard for her earnings every single day. Our Aurodeniz team identified her and made a promise, we will support her and the amazing skills she has. She is working with a group of women, who are making paper products. We are taking their paper products online.

Question: Can you also say something about Auroville, a short description for people who do not know this place.

Arun: Auroville is an international city located in South India, this is the dream of Mirra Alfassa, also known as The Mother. She wanted to build a city without politics, religion and all that you can find in the normal world that deteriorates human unity and peace. Auroville will be the city of Human Unity and stands as an example to the rest of the world of how the future world should be. I’m extremely happy and proud to have been born in Auroville. I will take Auroville towards its purpose of existence. Everything has a reason for its presence.

Question: I saw that you also sell very beautiful terra cotta products for example terracotta water bottles. Do you have already experience in shipping them? How do you prevent them from breaking on transport?

Arun: We have shipped only to Bangalore so far, only 2 pieces. It was delivered well. We used straw, papers and some covers to wrap it safe. This should work well. But assuring 100% that no damage will occur for the terracotta, no one can promise. But we have done well and can make it happen.

Question: Do you send the products abroad? Is it possible for Germans to order directly online? What is the minimum order value for such an order?

Arun: Yes, you can order the products online. We can deliver it to Germany. The minimum orders are already set in the website, so you can order as per the website.
